The Meiji Group business activities are driven by our mission to widen the world of “Tastiness and Enjoyment” and meet all expectations regarding “Health and Reassurance”. We provide a wide variety of products, including dairy, confectionery, nutritionals and pharmaceuticals that are invaluable to the daily lives of all generations of consumers, from infants to the elderly.
In Japan, many social problems, such as labor shortages and rising medical costs, become serious due to population decline, low birth rates, and population aging. At the same time, the world faces global warming, food shortages caused by population growth, and marine pollution caused by plastics. Therefore, the interest in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations is growing.
Amid such circumstances, we launched our 2020 Medium-Term Business Plan as the first step to achieve the Meiji Group 2026 Vision, our long-term strategy, in April 2018. In FYE March 2020, the second year of the business plan, for domestic operations, we will revive sales growth in core businesses to increase the profitability. In addition, we will develop businesses that will be future growth drivers. Also, we will promote structural reforms in low profit businesses. For overseas operations, we will aggressively expand business by increasing production capacity and strengthening sales capabilities.
At the Co-Creation Center, the new research institute established in April 2019, we will create our unique values that contribute to extending healthy life expectancy. One of our strengths is to have both food and pharmaceutical businesses. We will apply and combine the expertise in both segments. We will also incorporate external knowledge and opinions.
Under the Meiji Group 2026 Vision, we will promote the Meiji Group’s unique CSR activities as “Food and Health” professionals. By steadily achieving our goals, we will contribute to solving social issues and to realizing a sustainable society.
